Falls City Utility staff will flush fire hydrants starting May 13th, Monday through Thursday, from 7:30 am to 3:00 pm, weather permitting. The flushing of over 200 hydrants should be completed before May 24th.
This regular flushing process serves several important purposes. Firstly, it helps to remove sediment, rust, and other debris that can accumulate in the hydrant's water pipes over time. Clearing this buildup ensures that water can flow freely and at the necessary pressure during emergencies, enabling firefighters to respond swiftly and effectively. By routinely flushing fire hydrants, we are able to safeguard public safety and maintain the reliability of their infrastructure.
